The other day I actually bought new music. Well, sorta new. The Crisis (the folks that would become Death In June, Sol Invictus, and Theatre of Hate, not the old Metal Blade band) discography and the rerelease of Billy Bragg's Talking with the Taxman About Poetry. They're both quite good, but I knew that going in. The Bragg came with a bonus disk of B-sides and outtakes, etc.
I keep on listening to "Levi Stubbs' Tears" off of Talking with the Taxman. And by keep on listening, I mean I put the single song on repeat for 20 minutes at a time. I'm obsessive that way.
You too can listen to it! I'm not asking you to be like me, mind you, but you really should hear it at least once as it's quite brilliant and beautiful. Show me another British political pop song from 1986 that references Motown and I'll eat my hat!
Mp3!
