James W. von Brunn holds a BachSci Journalism degree from a mid-Western university
where he was president of SAE and played varsity football.

During WWII he served as PT-Boat captain, Lt. USNR, receiving a Commendation
and four battle stars. For twenty years he was an advertising executive and film-producer
in New York City. He is a member of Mensa, the high-IQ society.

In 1981 Von Brunn attempted to place the treasonous Federal Reserve Board of
Governors under legal, non-violent, citizens arrest. He was tried in a Washington, D.C.
Superior Court; convicted by a Negro jury, Jew/Negro attorneys, and sentenced to prison
for eleven years by a Jew judge. A Jew/Negro/White Court of Appeals denied his appeal. He
served 6.5 years in federal prison. (Read about von Brunn's "Federal Reserve Caper"
HERE.) He is now an artist and author and lives on Maryland's
Eastern Shore.

That's your suspect. I don't really buy the fact that he was particularly popular in the white power community, as some sources are claiming (Talking Points Memo, Washington Post). I mean, I don't doubt for the minute that he was buddies with William Pierce from the National Alliance, as the Washington Post reported. They were both from the older generation. Not to mention, the Eastern Shore of Maryland, which is where von Brunn lived, isn't too off from the old National Alliance compound in West Virginia. That being said, this post on StormFront from 2002 asking "Who is James W. von Brunn?" got only one response with any information. Also, another StormFront post linked from TPM, "von Brunn is sick", was also not particularly popular. On a site where some posts can get tens or even hundreds of responses, I think that this points to him just not being that well-known in white power circles.

It should be interesting to see what comes out in the next few days. I suspect that von Brunn acted on his own, though as someone who was convicted of a federal crime he was not allowed to own a weapon. He had to get it somewhere.
